Kentucky will head to Nashville on Sunday evening for an SEC matchup against Vanderbilt. The Commodores are currently toward the bottom of the standings with a conference record of 1-2-3 and an overall record of 6-2-5. The team picked up its first SEC win on Thursday against a strong Texas A&M squad with a 2-0 victory on the road. Addie Porter and Caroline Betts each found the back of the net to earn the first win at Ellis Field in program history. Sara Wojdelko made a single game-high five saves in the win to earn her fifth shutout of the year; the team’s seventh. The Commodores will look to build on that momentum with another win over Kentucky on Sunday evening with a home crowd cheering them on.

The Wildcats have their own momentum flowing right now as they are currently on a four-game unbeaten streak to bring their overall record to 10-1-3 and their conference record to 2-1-3. The team’s only conference loss came against South Carolina in a 1-0 defeat, but the team bounced back and has not lost a game since. On Thursday, Kentucky hosted LSU, playing to a 2-1 victory in front of 535 fans. In a game that saw four penalty kicks and a red card, Alexis Tylenda scored the game-winner with five minutes remaining to be the hero in one of the year’s most exciting matches. Makala Woods scored just a few minutes in to take the lead, but Tylenda came through in a big way to finish it. Maddie Kemp provided assists on both goals and Marz Josephson came up big with four saves, including a penalty kick, in net to allow her team to add three points to their conference total.
Kentucky and Vanderbilt last met during regular season play last year. The game resulted in a 2-0 win for the Wildcats at home.
