Top-seeded Bucknell faces off with second-seeded Boston University in the Patriot League Championship.
The women’s college soccer championship in the Patriot League is a showdown between the two top teams in the conference. Top-seeded Bucknell (12-4-2) head into the championship match having won three straight matches. Their last loss came to second-seeded Boston University (6-7-6), who the Bisons take on today for the conference championship. The Terriers needed two overtimes to advance out of the semifinals and set up this championship match. Junior Margy Porta scored the game-winning goal in the second overtime to push the Terriers one match away from the championship in the Patriot League. The Bison had a much easier semifinal match, cruising to a 4-0 win over Loyola.

The Bison scored two goals in each half during their semifinals win putting pressure on the Greyhounds all match. Katie Connell, Sydney Hess, Paige Temple and Teresa Deda all found the net in the win.
When these teams last met the Terriers came away with a tough, gritty match. Freshman Juliana Osterman came off the bench to score the only goal in the match with 5:51 remaining in the first half. From there the Terriers held strong, shutting out the Bison for the rest of the match.
The Bison had opportunities to even the score with six shots, three on goal, but were shutout by Jess Benattar. Throughout the game Benattar defended the net well with one spectacular diving save to keep the Bison scoreless. It is fitting that the championship comes down to the top two seeds in the tournament and a rematch between these teams after a late season classic match.
