Ole Miss Soccer Stadium will host home side Ole Miss and visiting Texas on Thursday night for a 7 p.m. kickoff. The Rebels will look to break a three-game losing streak as they currently sit at 5-6 overall and 0-2 in conference play. The team’s most recent time on the pitch resulted in a tough 1-0 loss to LSU. While the team managed to get off seven shots in the game, the Tigers were able to put up 22 shots with 10 ending up on frame. Shu Oba was challenged early and often in net, but she came up with nine saves to keep the game close, but the team was unable to find the equalizer.

The Longhorns opened SEC play last week with a 2-2 draw against Alabama but dropped their most recent game to No. 24 Mississippi State in a close 1-0 loss to fall to 0-1-1 in conference play and 7-1-2 overall. The loss moved Texas out of the national rankings after being ranked No. 11 last week. In the defeat, Mississippi State outshot Texas 12-7 and Mia Justus and Megan Hogate combined to make five saves in net with the lone goal being scored against Justus in the first half.
Tonight’s game will mark just the second meeting between Texas and Ole Miss with the first meeting being played way back in 2003 in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. The game resulted in a 1-0 win for Ole Miss to eliminate the Longhorns from the chance at a national championship.
