NC State and No. 19 Virginia Tech will meet in Raleigh on Thursday night for an ACC matchup as the season winds down.
On Thursday night, No. 19 Virginia Tech will travel to Dail Soccer Field to play NC State in one of the final games of the regular season. While the Wolf Pack has no chance of making it into the six-team ACC tournament, they could put a stop to Virginia Tech’s postseason run before it begins with an upset at home. NC State is currently 1-5-2 in conference play with an overall record of 4-9-3. In the team’s last outing, it picked up a narrow 1-0 victory over Clemson. Rosalie Olou netted her first goal of the season in the 71st minute of play to give the Wolf Pack a 1-0 lead with 19 minutes to play. Clemson outshot NC State 8-5, but Olivia Pratapas came up with three saves in net to mark her fourth shutout of the season.

The Hokies bring a two-game win streak into Thursday night’s contest after beating Southern Methodist 1-0 on October 10th. The team has now had two full weeks off from games so the Hokies will need to get reestablished quickly. Virginia Tech is currently sitting in third place in the ACC standings with an overall record of 10-3-2 and a conference record of 5-1-1. While the team is in a strong position to make it into postseason play, with three games remaining, their spot is not guaranteed. While a spot as the one or two seed would allow the Hokies a bye in the first round of ACC tournament play, it will be tough to get there unless they win out; a difficult task as the team takes on No. 7 Notre Dame on Sunday.
Against the Mustangs, the lone goal of the match was scored by Taylor Price and the shutout was earned by Lauren Hargrove after making one save. She now has eight clean sheets to her name this season.
When Virginia Tech and NC State met last season during conference play, the Hokies won handily in a 4-1 victory at home.
