Colonial Athletic play continues on Thursday night for Monmouth and William & Mary as the teams meet in New Jersey.
The William & Mary women’s soccer team will travel to West Long Branch, New Jersey on Thursday night for a Colonial Athletic game against Monmouth. The Hawks come into Thursday’s contest with an overall record of 4-1-4 with a conference record of 0-0-1 so far. Monmouth opened conference play on Sunday at home with a game against Drexel and the game resulted in a 2-2 draw. The Hawks were forced to play from behind after the Dragons scored twice in the first 15 minutes. Just before the break, Emily De Almeida netted her second goal of the season to cut Drexel’s lead in half. With only 10 minutes left to play, Liza Suydam scored the equalizer to allow Monmouth to earn one point toward its conference total.

The Tribe has been on a hot streak over the last few games, winning three in a row to bring the team’s overall record to 7-3 and their conference record to 2-0. On Sunday, the team hosted UNCW and played to a 2-0 victory. Nora Green-Orset found the back of the net for the first time this season with an unassisted goal in the 14th minute. Ivey Crain added to her team’s lead in the 75th minute to take the wind out from under the Seahawks’ wings. Jazzy Lorenz made three saves in net to earn her third straight shutout and the team’s sixth of the year.
Monmouth and William & Mary have met seven times, but the Hawks are still winless against the Tribe. Last season, the teams played to a scoreless draw.
