SEC play will begin for Texas A&M on Thursday night with a women’s soccer game against Missouri on the road.
On Thursday night, Audrey J. Walton Soccer Stadium will play host to home side Missouri and visiting Texas A&M as the women’s soccer teams kick-off SEC play. The Tigers come into conference play with a record of 2-4-1 so far and will look to pick up an early win to stay atop the SEC standings. The team’s most recent game was played against No. 8 Duke and resulted in a tough 7-0 loss on the road. The game against the Blue Devils marked the third ranked opponent the Tigers have faced this year and they were shutout in all three. Against Duke, Missouri struggled offensively, only producing five shots to Duke’s 23. If the team wants to compete for an SEC title this season, there is much to figure out.

The Aggies are also entering the most important part of the season fresh off of a loss to bring their overall record to 5-3. On Sunday, the team played Big East power UConn, losing 6-0 on the road. Despite the fact that Texas A&M edged out UConn on total shots 13-12, the Huskies were able to convert six of their nine shots on frame to earn the win. The teams were even on corner kick opportunities at two apiece, but UConn scored on both opportunities. While the team did hold UConn’s leading scorer to zero shots in the contest, five other Huskies were able to find the back of the net to earn the win.
These two teams have met 28 times with Texas A&M leading the series 18-6-4. The last matchup came two years ago and resulted in a 1-1 draw.
