Conference play in women’s college soccer will come to a close for Boston University and Army on Wednesday evening as the teams prepare for the postseason.
On Wednesday night, Boston University will welcome Army to Nickerson Field as the teams close out regular season play with the hopes of improving their position in the tournament bracket with a win. The Black Knights are currently in second place in the Patriot League standings with a conference record of 5-2-1 and an overall record of 11-4-1. The team is on a two-game win streak and will look to carry momentum from a 3-0 win over Colgate in its last match into Wednesday’s game. Brigid Duffy, Kaelan Bradley and Hannah Pohlidal each scored first half goals for the Black Knights to lift the team to a win while Sage Strohman stood strong in net, making five saves on the way to her seventh clean sheet of the season.

The Terriers are undefeated in Patriot League play with a conference record of 4-0-4 and an overall record of 4-7-6 for a spot in third place in the standings. On Saturday, the team traveled to Maryland to take on American and played to a 2-2 draw. BU was forced to play from behind after American took a 1-0 lead at the half and extended that to a 2-0 lead in the 71st minute. Giulianna Gianino made it a 2-1 game with her eighth goal of the season in the 76th minute before Kat Slott tied things up with eight minutes remaining in the game. Bridget Carr played the full 90 minutes in net for the Terriers and made two saves to help her team add a point to its tally.
Army and Boston University met once last season and the game resulted in a 2-1 win for the Black Knights to move the all-time record to 9-3-2 in BU’s favor.
