The UTRGV Vaqueros will look to pull off a huge upset on Sunday afternoon as the team travels to the Moody Center to play No. 5 Texas in a non-conference matchup. UTRGV brings a two-game win streak into Sunday’s standoff and hold an overall record of 6-6 and a conference record of 1-1 so far. The team’s most recent game was played against Kansas City last week and resulted in a 71-54 victory at home. Kade Hackerott paced four Vaqueros to a double digit performances with a team-high 13 points. Charlotte O’Keefe finished right behind with 12 points and pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds to earn a double-double in the win.

The Longhorns got off to a strong start this season and have been dominant since that first tip off. The team is now 12-1 on the season and bring a five-game win streak into its final non-conference game of the season. Texas’ most recent game was played against South Dakota State a week ago and resulted in a big 103-57 victory at home. Justice Carlton led all scorers with 19 points. She was joined in double figures by four of her teammates. Taylor Jones added 15 points to the scoreboard and a game-high 11 rebounds to earn a double-double in the win. All but one rostered Longhorn scored in the team’s big win.
Sunday’s game will mark the 11th meeting between UTRGV and Texas. The Longhorns have won each of the previous 10 games with the most recent being a big 104-51 victory last season.
