No. 5 Texas will open up conference play at the Lloyd Noble Center against Raegan Beers and No. 9 Oklahoma on Thursday night.
Texas, the No. 5 ranked team in the country in women’s college basketball, will travel to Norman, Oklahoma, on Thursday night in an SEC battle. In Norman, they will take on the No. 9 ranked Oklahoma at the Lloyd Noble Center. The Texas Longhorns (13-1, 0-0) played 14 games out of conference and lost only one of them. That solo loss came against the No. 3 ranked Notre Dame on the road in the SEC/ACC Challenge by 10 points in an overtime bout. They have taken down AP Top 25 teams as well, beating former No. 12 West Virginia in the championship game of the Gulf Coast Showcase.
They previously took down New Mexico State and Butler in the same tournament. They ended 2024 with a six-game win streak, beating James Madison, Southern, Richmond, La Salle, South Dakota State, and UT Rio Grande. Madison Booker, a sophomore forward, leads the team in scoring, averaging 16.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game.
The Oklahoma Sooners (12-1, 0-0) also left non-conference play with just one loss, as it will play SEC teams from here on out. Their only loss of the season came against former No. 13 Duke by 10 points in overtime in the Ball Dawgs Classic championship game. It followed that loss up with a huge win against former No. 22 Louisville in the SEC/ACC Challenge by six points.
After beating Alabama State and Oral Roberts, they took down another AP Top 25 team, former No. 20 Michigan in the Jumpman Invitational by 10 points. They ended the year, beating Omaha and New Mexico State. Center Raegan Beers leads the team on the court for Oklahoma. The 6-foot-4 junior is averaging 17.9 points and 9.7 rebounds per game.
