Nunu Agara and Stanford will take on ACC rival Nya Robertson and SMU at the Moody Coliseum on Thursday night.
Stanford will travel to Dallas, Texas, on Thursday night in an Atlantic Coast Conference battle in women’s college basketball. In Texas, they will match up with SMU at the Moody Coliseum. The Stanford Cardinal (8-4, 0-1) ended non-conference play with an 8-3 record through the first two months of the season. Last month, December, they played just four games, losing three of the four. They opened it with a loss in the SEC/ACC Challenge to former No. 5 LSU by six points in overtime. They followed it up with their only conference loss to California on the road.
Their last loss, the last of the month, came against former No. 11 Ohio State in the Bay Area Women’s Classic by 25 points. Their only win in that stretch came against UTSA by five points at home. Sophomore forward Nunu Agara leads the team in scoring this season, averaging 17.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game as a 6-foot-2 sophomore forward. She has played in all 12 games.
The SMU Mustangs (8-5, 0-1) left non-conference play with an 8-4 record, one more game than their opponent. They also bring a three-game winning streak into this contest after ending 2024 with wins at home against Texas Tech, on the road against North Texas, and back on the road against Chicago State.
They lost their first two games of the month, getting beat by Missouri on the road by seven points in the SEC/ACC Challenge. They lost back-to-back games with the latter half being their only conference loss on the road against Florida State by eight points. Nya Robertson has played in all 13 gams and leads the team in scoring, averaging 20.1 points and 3.2 rebounds per game as a 5-foot-7 guard.
