UNLV (1-0) is the three-time defending regular-season and tournament champion in the Mountain West Conference and on Thursday morning will host Northern Arizona (1-0) in an early-season matchup. The Lady Rebels are 103-22 in their fifth season under coach Lindy La Rocque, including a 50-4 mark in MWC play, but have exited in the first round of the NCAA tournament each of the last three years. The Lumberjacks made their lone NCAA tournament appearance in 2006 and are 116-99 under coach Loree Payne, who is entering her eighth season. Northern Arizona lost in the second round of the WNIT last season.

UNLV opened its season with a 73-57 win over visiting Loyola Marymount on Monday night, getting 16 points from Eastern Washington transfer Aaliyah Alexander and 14 points and six assists from returnee Kiara Jackson while redshirt freshman Meadow Roland came off the bench for 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Sophie Glancey hit a mid-range jumper at the buzzer on Monday night to lift the Lumberjacks to an 80-78 win at New Mexico. Glancey finished with 17 points and eight rebounds while Leia Beattie added 16 points and seven assists before fouling out. Taylor Feldman added 15 points before she picked up her fifth foul.
The Lady Rebels lead the all-time series 16-4 and the teams are meeting for the fifth straight season. UNLV beat Northern Arizona 85-69 in Flagstaff, Arizona, on Nov. 29.
