North Carolina and Miami will meet Sunday afternoon in women’s ACC basketball action.
On Sunday afternoon, the No. 17 North Carolina Tar Heels will travel to Florida to take on Miami in an ACC matchup. The Hurricanes come into Sunday’s conference contest with an overall record of 11-1 and an ACC record of 1-0 so far. The team has won four straight games with the most recent being a 61-56 win over Oregon State just before the Christmas Holiday at the Maui Classic. Cameron Williams led the ‘Canes offense with a 21-point performance while Haley Cavinder finished right behind her with 20 points. Cavinder led the team on the boards with 12 rebounds on the day, earning a double-double in the win. While the team was able to pull off the victory in Hawaii, it will need to improve upon shooting as the ‘Canes only shot 40 percent from the field and only drained one three-point shot.

The Tar Heels are currently on a two-game win streak, bringing their overall record to 12-2, but they dropped their conference-opener to then-No. 25 Georgia Tech nearly two weeks ago to move to 0-1 in ACC play. The team’s most recent game was played against Norfolk State last weekend and the Tar Heels won handily in a 90-47 win at home. All but two players scored for UNC with Lanie Grant coming off the bench to lead the team in scoring with 15 points. Alyssa Utsby earned a double-double in the victory with 10 points and a team-high 11 rebounds.
The last time North Carolina and Miami met was during the ACC tournament last season in which the Hurricanes earned a narrow 60-59 victory to eliminate the Tar Heels from tournament play.
