Memphis tries to end a seven-game losing streak when it hosts Louisville on Saturday night. The Cardinals will be the favorites to win this one with the Tigers sitting at 2-8 overall this season but Louisville is trying to bounce back from a humbling loss against No. 22 NC State. The Cardinals lost to the Wolfpack 72-42 at home to fall to 6-5 on the season last Sunday. Louisville had just six and eight points in the first and fourth quarters respectively in a game that was never really close. In the first 10 minutes of their ACC opener, the Cardinals shot just 3-for-20. Louisville improved in the second quarter but not by much shooting 33.3 percent and were down by 20 points at the half. Nyla Harris and Olivia Cochran both led the team in scoring with eight points. Louisville shot .239 overall on the game but a bright spot for the team is that it forced 23 turnovers. The Cardinals lead the ACC averaging 20.6 forced turnovers and this should be the formula against Memphis to get back in the win column.

The good news for Memphis in this game is that they are 2-3 at home compared with 0-5 on the road when they host Louisville tonight. The Tigers are coming off a 90-75 loss against No. 16 Tennessee on Wednesday. Memphis was only down one at halftime but were outscored 27-13 in the third quarter to help keep the Volunteers’ undefeated season alive. Tilly Boler had a game-high 23 points. If the Tigers are able to replicate that same offense, Memphis has a great opportunity to get out of this slump.
