UMass (2-2) has won its last two games and looks to get over the .500 mark for the first time this season when it hosts Holy Cross (2-2) at the Mullins Centeron Wednesday night. The Minutewomen played in the NCAA tournament in 2022, but struggled last season under first-year coach Mike Leflar, finishing 5-27. The Crusaders, meanwhile, have gone to the last two NCAA tournamentsm but lost coach Maureen Magarity in August when she resigned, citing family reasons. Assistant coach Candice Green moved up to the interim head coaching position after joining the Holy Cross staff last season.

On Friday, UMass pulled away from visiting Monmouth with a huge second period en route to a 76-53 blowout, marking the program’s first back-to-back regular season wins under Leflar. Megan Olbrys scored 20 points in the rout, while Yahmani McKayle finished with 17 points and six assists. Allie Palmieri scores 15.0 points per game, with McKayle getting 13.3 and Olbrys putting up 12.0 points and 9.5 rebounds a night.
The middle periods spelled doom for the Crusaders on Saturday afternoon in a 67-50 loss at Vermont. They were outscored 38-22 over that 20-minute span. Kaitlyn Flanagan, Simone Foreman and Kendall Eddy netted 12 points each in the loss. Foreman averages 14.3 points and 8.3 rebounds and Flanagan posts 12.3 points and 6.0 assists per game.
The Minutewomen lead the all-time series 14-11 and won the most recent meeting, taking a 61-58 decision at Holy Cross on Nov. 19, 2021.
