The Seminoles conclude their four-game home stand on Friday by hosting in-state rival Florida in women’s basketball action.
On Friday night, Florida will make the trip to Tallahassee to take on in-state rival Florida State in a non-conference battle at the Tucker Center. The Gators will look to bounce back from its first loss of the season on Saturday in which they fell to Miami in an 83-73 defeat at home. The team is now 3-1 on the year and will look to improve upon that on Friday night. Against the ‘Canes, Jeriah Warren scored an impressive 25 points to lead the Gators’ offense, but it was not the game-high as Haley Cavinder netted 31 points for Miami. Ra Shaya Kyle scored 14 points and was also joined in double figures by Kenza Salgues who scored 13 points and Liv McGill who finished the game with 11. Kyle pulled down eight rebounds to lead the team on the boards.

The Seminoles bring a three-game win streak into Friday night’s rivalry game and are currently 4-1 on the season. The team’s last time out resulted in an impressive 119-57 win over North Carolina Central on Monday night. Junior guard Ta’Niya Latson recorded her first career double-double with 34 points and 10 assists to lead her team to victory. It was the 15th game of her career in which she scored 30 points or more. Mikayla Timpson led on the boards with nine rebounds, narrowly missing a double-double as she scored 19 points in the win.
Florida State played well both offensively and defensively, shooting .526 from the field and .542 from three-point range, propelled by Carla Viegas’ career-high six three-pointers. The team collectively finished with 11 steals which resulted in a 15 fast-break points.
Friday night’s game will be the 78th meeting between Florida and Florida State. The Gators currently hold the lead in the series at 42-35. Tune in on Friday night to see if the Seminoles are able to tip the scales with their fourth win in a row.
