Drake will look to extend its win streak to four games on Saturday with a road victory over St. Thomas in women’s non-conference basketball.
The University of St. Thomas Tommies will host the Drake Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon as the teams square off in non-conference action at Schoenecker Arena. The Tommies come into their penultimate non-conference game with a record of 7-4 so far and will look to carry momentum from a 69-56 win against Western Illinois on Saturday into this weekend’s game. Against the Leathernecks, Jade Hill led all scorers with a 26-point performance and was joined in double figures by JO Langbehn and Sammy Opichka who scored 11 and 10 points, respectively. The Bulldogs bring a three-game win streak into Saturday’s contest with the most recent being a massive 84-34 win against USC Upstate on Monday night. Despite only having two players score in double digits against Upstate, the team was able to win handily at home. Brooklin Dailey led with 11 points while Ava Hawthorne finished right behind her with 10 points. All but one player scored at least three points in the win and Maggie Taylor led on the boards with 11 rebounds. While the team only shot 38 percent from the field and 36 percent from long range, it was enough to pick up its third straight victory.
Drake and St. Thomas have only met once before and the Bulldogs won easily in a 94-69 victory last season. Tune in Saturday afternoon to see if the Bulldogs can carry their momentum to another win.
