Minnesota Lynx can lock up No. 2 seed in the WNBA playoffs with a breakthrough win over the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday
The Minnesota Lynx (29-9) still have a mathematical chance of winning the WNBA regular-season title, but they can lock up a top-two seed on Tuesday night when they visit the third-place Connecticut Sun (27-11) at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, on Tuesday night. With just two games remaining, the Lynx trail the first-place New York Liberty by two games after beating them on Sunday in Brooklyn. The Liberty are on the road against the Washington Mystics on Tuesday and secure the top seed with a win or a Lynx loss.

Minnesota won its sixth straight game on Sunday, leading by as much as 26 en route to an 88-79 win at New York to clinch the season series between the teams. Bridget Carleton scored 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting, including 5-of-7 from deep as the Lynx were 9-of-18 from beyond the arc. Napheesa Collier added 18 points and 13 rebounds.
The Sun had their three-game winning run ended by the host Las Vegas Aces 84-71 on Sunday. The third quarter was the difference as the Aces opened a 21-point lead. Marina Mabrey scored 18 points off the bench for Connecticut while Brionna Jones added 17.
The Lynx are the top 3-point shooting team in the WNBA at 38.1% and the matchup on Tuesday features the top two defensive clubs in the league. The Sun own a 94.5 defensive rating while Minnesota is just behind them at 94.8.
Collier paces the Lynx at 20.3 points and 9.8 rebounds per game, Kayla McBride gets 15.1 points a night and Courtney Williams chips in with 11.3 points and 5.4 assists. DeWanna Bonner scores 15.3 points per game while Mabrey has averaged 15.3 points in 14 games since arriving in a trade with the Chicago Sky in July. Alyssa Thomas gets 10.3 points, 8.5 rebounds and 7.9 assists per outing and Jones drops 14.1 points per contest.
