The Liberty took a 10-point lead with 3:39 remaining in the first quarter and led by as much as 22 in their 83-69 victory on Sunday in Game 1. Breanna Stewart finished with 20 points, 11 rebounds and three blocked shots and Leonie Fiebich canned all four of her 3-point attempts in a 21-point performance.
Rhyne Howard paced Atlanta with 14 points and Tina Charles added 12 for the Dream, who shot just 39.7% overall and were 3-of-16 from 3-point range. Atlanta is without reserve forward Cheyenne Parker-Tyus (ankle) and backup guard Aerial Powers (calf). Both were ruled out for the remainder of the season by the Dream earlier this month.
With a victory on Tuesday night, the Liberty advances to the best-of-five semifinals against the winner of the series between the fifth-seeded Seattle Storm and the two-time defending champion Las Vegas Aces, the No. 4 seed. An Atlanta win forces a decisive Game 3 on Thursday at State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
