Alyssa Thomas and the Connecticut Sun take on the Los Angeles Sparks, who are led by Dearica Hamby, on Tuesday.

The Connecticut Sun (25-10) and Los Angeles Sparks (7-28) run it back for a second time in three days to close out the regular season series Tuesday. In the win Connecticut used a 24-9 final period to close out last-placed Los Angeles fueled by another triple-double from Alyssa Thomas. That was Thomas’ 11th career triple-double and her third of the season, both leading the WNBA. With just five games left in the regular season, Connecticut is trying to keep pace with the Minnesota Lynx for the second seed in the playoffs while holding off the Las Vegas Aces who are three games back.

Thomas really stuffed the statsheet in the win, finishing with 12 points, 11 assists, 10 rebounds and two steals. This season in three games against Los Angeles, the All-Star forward is averaging 10.7 points, 11.0 rebounds and 8.7 assists with eight steals.

Connecticut is also getting into a rhythm since trading for Marina Mabrey. The team is 7-4 in 11 games with the six-year veteran averaging 13.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game on 38.8 percent shooting from three. She has shifted to the bench over the last eight games, leading the second unit and giving the team much more depth.

For Los Angeles, the season has not had a lot of positives. Rookie Rickea Jackson has been one of those bright spots, averaging 12.8 points per game and scoring in double figures in 24 of 36 games, including 23 points in the last game against Connecticut two days ago.

    Regional restrictions may apply.
