The Breakers can clinch the final playoff spot from the South with a win and some help from the Gamblers, who play the Bandits on Sunday.
The Stallions are battling a slew of injuries and standout receiver Victor Bolden went down last weekend in their 26-16 win over the Maulers. Bo Scarbrough ran for 100 yards on 27 carries and Bobby Holly went the distance on a 52-yard run on a fake punt.
The Breakers had to go to overtime to beat the Panthers last week. Quarterback Kyle Sloter picked up Offensive Player of the Week honors after converting two scoring plays in the shootout, a pass to Anthony Jones and then a scramble to the end zone to win it.
Birmingham beat New Orleans in their first meeting back in week three. The Breakers led 13-10 after three quarters before J’Mar Smith threw a touchdown pass to Bolden midway through the fourth period to give the Stallions the lead.
