The Faroe Islands come in off a win over Lithuania, looking for revenge in a rematch with Luxembourg.
Luxembourg (2-1-0) has played close to the vest in UEFA Nations League Group C1, a tactic that served it well the first time against Faroe Islands (1-2-0). When they met on June 7 in Torshavn, Gerson Rodrigues converted a penalty in the 74th minute for the match’s only goal.

On Friday, Jákup Andreason scored late in the first half and the Faroe Islands held on for a 2-1 victory over Lithuania after being shut out in its first two matches. Viljormur Davidsen got the Islanders on the board with a penalty in the 20th minute after Lithuania scored early in the match.
Luxembourg lost to Turkey on Friday, 2-0, in a battle for the top of the group ladder. It returns to Stade de Luxembourg on Tuesday for its return match with the Faroe Islands.
The victory was Luxembourg’s first in five matches all-time against the Faroe Islands, which won the first three times before a scoreless draw in a June 2010 friendly in the teams’ last meeting before this year’s UEFA Nations League.
The Faroe Islands have two players out for the match at Luxembourg. Sølvi Vatnhamar received a red card in the first meeting and drew a three-game ban. Odmar Færø is also out after picking up his second yellow card of the tournament in the loss to Turkey.
The Islanders will get back René Joensen, who did not play against Lithuania after drawing yellow and red cards the first time around against Luxembourg.
