The Faroe Islands will take on Latvia today in a group-stage matchup in the UEFA Nations League with two teams from League C Group 4 on Sunday afternoon. Through three games, Latvia is 1-0-2 with a total of three points and a negative-five goal differential. The nation opened up the Nations League with a 4-1 loss against Armenia with the lone goal coming from an Armenian own goal. Latvia picked up a win in the team’s second game with a 1-0 defeat over the Faroe Islands in the first round around the group. Renārs Varslavāns scored in the 64th minute for the only goal in the game at Skonto Stadium. Earlier this week, Latvia was shutout against North Macedonia 3-0. With only one goal scored in three games, it looks pretty bleak for Latvia to make a statement and come out of this group. However, it is not impossible.

The Faroe Islands are the only team in League C Group 4 that haven’t won a game; however, the team has drawn two of its three games as well. It has a total of two points in the group putting it in last placed with a negative-one goal differential. The nation opened up the Nations League with a 1-1 draw against North Macedonia with Enos Bardhi converting a penalty for the team’s lone goal.
The team’s only loss in the first round through the group came against Latvia. Earlier this week, the Faroe Islands drew with Armenia 2-2. The islands took a quick lead with a goal in the 37th minute from Jann Benjaminsen. After giving up a game-tying goal, it scored again in the 85th minute with a goal from Jóannes Bjartalío. Armenia knotted it at two in stoppage time.
