Matchday 2 kicks off as French side Stade Brestois heads to the Alps to face Red Bull Salzburg in Austria
After dropping its opening match of the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League Red Bull Salzburg is hopeful a return to home soil will provide an opportunity to keep pace in the League phase as Stade Brestois makes its first ever visit to Red Bull Arena. Brest tallied a 2-1 home win in its Champions League opener against Sturm back in September serving as its first ever win in the competition. The Pirates have had a sluggish start to its domestic season winning just two of its first six matches in France’s Ligue 1 having allowed two or more goals in each of the four losses.

RB Salzburg has collected points in five of its first six domestic matches and is unbeaten in two consecutive Austrian Bundesliga contests. Israeli midfielder Oscar Gloukh leads the club with five goals in his first five matches scoring three in the season opening win over FC Blau-Weiß Linz and both goals in Saturday’s home victory over Vienna. Gloukh is two goals shy of equaling his career-best scoring output from last season.
Midfielders Mahdi Camara and Romain Del Castillo are tied for the team lead with two goals so far this season while midfielder Hugo Magnetti and forward Abdallah Sima netted goals in Brest’s opening round victory.
This match marks the 98th all-time UEFA Champions League contest for RB Salzburg but have never made it past the first round of the knockout stage.
