Manchester City hosts Feyenoord in the Champions League on Tuesday hoping to end a historically bad run of form.
Premier League champion Manchester City is hellbent on ending its disastrous series of results as it welcomes Feyenoord to the Etihad Stadium for a Champions League showdown on Tuesday. The Citizens have lost five games in a row in a drought that’s taken the soccer world by surprise, but the pursuit of European gold may yet offer the club a sight at relief in the midst of its malaise. Feyenoord lost twice in as many meetings with City when these teams met during Pep Guardiola’s second season in charge, hoping to do one better by at least scoring a goal on this occasion.

City dished out a 4-0 demolition in Rotterdam before backing that up with a 1-0 home win when it met Feyenoord during the group stage of the 2017-18 Champions League.
Guardiola was still in his infancy at that stage and has since added silverware to his cabinet both domestic and foreign, not that one would guess it based on his team’s current form.
The worst stretch of form in Guardiola’s eight years as City chief went from bad to worse on Saturday after James Maddison helped inspire Tottenham to a 4-0 win at the Etihad Stadium.
That result made City the first reigning top-flight champion to lose five games in a row since Chelsea did so in 1956, stressing just how out of kilter the Citizens are at present.
Feyenoord, who is currently fourth in the Eredivisie, would like nothing better than to compound that misery by adding a sixth straight defeat to City’s record midweek.
Kevin De Bruyne could return to City’s starting XI, as Rodri and Mateo Kovacic miss out through injury, while suspended Chris-Kevin Nadje is one of six guaranteed absentees for Brian Priske’s men.
