Girona has one win in its first five Champions League matches having been shutout three times in that span. The Spanish side sits ninth in the La Liga table and is 10 points shy of securing a spot in next year’s Champions League.
Not only is this the first-ever meeting between Liverpool and Girona in Champions League play, it marks the first time to sides have ever faced-off in any competition.
