The Los Angeles Kings can make it three wins in a row against the Anaheim Ducks in NHL preseason on Monday.

The Los Angeles Kings (2-0) and Anaheim Ducks (1-1) line up across the ice for the second time in the preseason on Monday. In the first game two days ago Los Angeles came out with a 3-2 win. Alex Laferriere started the scoring with a goal in the first period with a power play goal. Sam Colangelo tied the game for Anaheim before the first period ended, followed by a second period goal from Anze Kopitar, sending Los Angeles into the final period with a 2-1 lead. Laferriere scored his second goal of the game, assisted by Kopitar, and Brandt Clarke scored in the third period to secure Los Angeles’ second straight win in the preseason. The scene shifts to Anaheim for the second game in this home-and-home series.

Last season Laferriere finished the season with just 23 points, 12 goals and 11 assists in his rookie season. With the way he is playing in the preseason Los Angeles might have a future leader to pair with Kopitar, who finished third on the team in points (70), second in assists (44) and fourth in goals (26).

Los Angeles made the playoffs last season, but were quickly eliminated in the first round by the eventual Western Conference champion Edmonton Oilers in five games. They look to build on last season’s success with veterans Kopitar, Adrian Kempe and Kevin Fiala, as well as a young rising star in Laferriere, who has shined in preseason.

For Anaheim, it is coming off a season where the team had the third-fewest wins in the NHL. That led to the selection of 18-year-old right-winger Beckett Sennecke as the third overall pick in the 2024 Draft. He is expected to miss the preseason and potentially the start of the season with a fracture in his foot.

    Regional restrictions may apply.
