Both the New Orleans Saints and Dallas Cowboys had convincing wins in Week 1. Which team will match the performance when the two squads meet in Week 2?
In terms of scoring margin, the New Orleans Saints (1-0) and Dallas Cowboys (1-0) had two of the biggest wins in Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season. The Saints were at home and beat the Carolina Panthers 47-10, while the Cowboys went on the road and knocked off the Cleveland Browns 33-17 (with a late garbage time touchdown from Cleveland). Winning convincingly in Week 1 is always a good sign, but it’s all for not if that momentum doesn’t carry over to Week 2. What does each team need to do to put together a strong follow up performance?

The key for the Saints in Week 1 was situational defense. They held the Panthers to just 1-of-10 on third downs, while forcing three turnovers. However they’ll have to be more careful about penalties on both sides of the ball, after getting flagged 10 times for 95 yards in Week 1. They won’t have as much of a margin for error against the Cowboys star-studded roster.
The Cowboys also struggled with penalties in Week 1, getting flagged 11 times for 85 yards. They were able to compensate by moving the ball well though, averaging 4.4 yards per play. Quarterback Dak Prescott – just hours after signing a long-anticipated contract extension – led the way completing 19 of his 32 pass attempts for 179 yards and a touchdown.
This game will also be the second one in the booth for new Fox announcer Tom Brady. Brady made his debut last week calling the Cowboys-Browns game.
