16 teams of PGA and LPGA players team up this weekend for the Grant Thornton Invitational at Tiburón Golf Club in Naples, Florida, for the Grant Thornton Invitational, with first round play set to begin on Friday. The first day’s play will be in the scramble format, with the second round of alternate-shot and closing with 18 holes of modified four-ball. Jason Day and Lydia Ko won the inaugural event last year and return to defend their title this weekend.

In last year’s event, Day and Ko finished at 26-under-par, one stroke better than Canadians Corey Conners and Brooke Henderson. That duo returns this year, as well, along with Daniel Berger and women’s world No. 1 Nelly Korda, Akshay Bhatia and Jennifer Kupcho, Cameron Champ and Mel Reid, Nick Dunlap and Gabi Ruffels, Rickie Fowler and Lexi Thompson and Max Greyserman and Andrea Lee.
Other teams in the tournament include Tom Kim and Jeeno Thitikul, Jake Knapp and Patty Tavatanakit, Matt Kuchar and Megan Khang, Luke List and Lilia Vu, Matthieu Pavon and Céline Boutier, J.T. Poston and Maja Stark, Satith Theegala and Allisen Corpuz and Cameron Young and Lauren Coughlin.
The tournament is the first mixed-team event since the JCPenney Classic in 1999 and features a $4 million prize pool, with the winners splitting $1 million and paying down to $120,000 for the 16th place team, with amounts potentially varying depending on ties. The runner-up team splits a $560,000 prize.
