After having their seven-game point streak snapped last time out, the Minnesota Wild return to the ice on Tuesday night for a tilt with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Steel City.
It’s been a great start to the 2024-2025 NHL season for the Minnesota Wild (5-1-2). John Hynes’ team picked up a point in each of its first seven games. After winning the season opener 3-2 over the Columbus Blue Jackets the Wild dropped games in a shootout and overtime, then ripped off four consecutive wins. However, that streak came to an end last time out, with a 7-5 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday. After having two days to sit with that loss the Wild will return to the ice on Saturday, looking to get back in the win column as they visit the Pittsburgh Penguins (3-6-1) at PPG Paints Arena.

Making the Wild’s start more impressive is that – after opening with two games at home – the Wild have been on what will end up being a seven-game early season road trip. This game in Pittsburgh is the final game of that stretch, as the Wild look to finish strong before returning home for three games.
They’ll now meet a Penguins team looking to snap a five-game losing streak – with five of those losses coming in regulation. The four most recent losses came on a road trip to Western Canada, with the most recent being a 4-3 defeat at the hands of the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday. This game marks the first of three at home for the Penguins.
