Bishop Manogue (12-12) and Galena (16-5) take identical 9-3 records in Nevada’s 5A Northern League into Thursday night’s matchup at the University of Nevada’s Peccole Park in Reno. Both teams come off 5A North victories as they chase first-place Reno, which leads the league by two games. The Miners of Bishop Manogue are the defending 5A Northern champions but a young roster has struggled at times this season. The Grizzlies, however, also has a roster full of underclassmen in key roles but has won 10 of their last 12 games. Galena finished fourth in the 5A north last season and was 1-2 in the league playoffs.

Bishop Manogue last played on Saturday, taking a wild eight-inning walkoff victory over the visiting Grizzlies. Rylan Martyka finished 3-for-6 and doubled twice with four RBI while Holden Rowan was 4-for-5 with a double, homer and four runs batted in. Sophomore pitcher/outfielder Keenan Dolan, meanwhile, earned Pitcher of the Week honors.
Shiloh Wilson had three hits and scored three times on Tuesday in the Grizzlies’ 9-7 win over visiting Douglas. Colson Kermode drove in five runs on a 2-for-4 day and Memphis Venis struck out four in three innings of work.
