The Santa Cruz Warriors got off to a strong start with a win over the Valley Suns spoiling their NBA G League debut. Santa Cruz jumped out to a 40-27 lead after the first quarter and held onto that lead throughout the game to earn a win to start the season. The teams stay in northern California for the second game of a back-to-back. This is the first season for Valley in the NBA G League as the affiliate of the Phoenix Suns in the NBA. They look to bounce back in game two of the season against Santa Cruz on the road. Arizona local legend TyTy Washington leads the way for Valley along with undrafted Jalen Bridges and Jaden Shackelford, all looking to make their way to the NBA roster in the future.

Bridges paced the Valley offense with 26 points on 5-11 shooting from three. Shackelford came off the bench for 23 points on 5-10 shooting from three as Valley went 22-52 overall from three.
Quinten Post led the way for Santa Cruz with a season-opening double-double finishing with 28 points and 15 rebounds. All five starters scored in double-figures led by Post along with veteran Kevin Knox III with 24 points, Reece Beekman with 20 points, Jackson Rowe with 18 points and Javan Johnson with 16 points.
Santa Cruz dominated inside the three-point line in the win attacking Valley all game. They went 31-53 from inside the line as Valley tried to keep up with high volume three-point shooting in the loss.
