The Bears head to Houston on Sunday night looking to stay undefeated when they play the Texans

The Chicago Bears hit the road to take on the Houston Texans on Sunday Night Football. The Bears come to town fresh off a comeback win over the Tennessee Titans last weekend. They trailed the Titans 17-0, but scored the last 24 points to get the win. Caleb Williams had a shaky first start to his career as the offense didn’t score a touchdown. They did return a blocked punt to make it 17-10 and then Tyrique Stevenson returned an interception 43 yards for the game-winning touchdown. Williams finished the game 14-29 for just 93 yards. They didn’t do much on the ground either as they ran for just 84 yards including 30 from free agent signing D’Andre Swift. The Bears are going to have to be much better on offense on Sunday night if they want to take down the undefeated Texans.

The Texans also got a big win in Week 1 as they beat the division rival Indianapolis Colts 29-27.

CJ Stroud looked good again in the season debut as he went 24-32 for 234 yards and two touchdowns. He hooked up with Nico Collins six times for 117 yards and threw his two touchdown passes to new addition Stefon Diggs.

Diggs was acquired in a trade with the Buffalo Bills and it paid off in the first game as the two connected six times.

The Texans also signed running back Joe Mixon in the offseason and he paid dividends right away as he rushed 159 yards and a touchdown in the win over the Colts.

Justin Fields and the Steelers will take the field against Bo Nix and the Broncos on Sunday afternoon.

The Pittsburgh Steelers will head on the road in the second week of the NFL season to take on the Denver Broncos in Colorado at Empower Field at Mile High Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Steelers came away from the first week with a win against the Atlanta Falcons on the road 18-10. They are the only team in the AFC North to come away with a win in Week 1. With Russell Wilson sidelined in the first week, former Chicago Bear Justin Fields got the start and threw for 156 yards on 17-fo-23 completions. He also ran 14 times for 57 yards in the game. Najee Harris led the team on the ground with 20 carries for 70 yards too. George Pickens led the air attack with six receptions on seven targets for 85 yards averaging 14.2 yards per reception. Tight end Pat Freiermuth also had four receptions for 27 yards. T.J. Watt caused havoc on the line in defense with two tackles for a loss and one sack. The most important player of the game was Chris Boswell who finished 6-for-6 with multiple 50+ yard field goals.

The Broncos lost in their first game of the season and first game under rookie Bo Nix at quarterback. They lost on the road against the Seattle Seahawks 26-20. Nix had a game he will work on after throwing two interceptions and only 138 yards. He also ran five times for 35 yards and a touchdown to lead the team on the ground.

Jaleel McLaughlin out carried Javonte Williams and finished with 27 yards. Josh Reynolds led the receivers with five receptions for 45 yards followed by Devaughn Vele with eight receptions for 39 yards. As a team, Denver turned the ball over three times which can’t happen if they expect to win ball games.

Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals will take the field against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday afternoon.

The Cincinnati Bengals will head on the road in Week 2 of the NFL season this weekend to take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Missouri at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs are 1-0 heading into this week as one of two teams in the AFC West to win the first game. They took down the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night 27-20 in the first game of the week, the same night they received their Super Bowl Champion recognition at home. Patrick Mahomes threw for 291 yards on 20 completions with a touchdown and an interception. Rashee Rice broke out with seven receptions for 103 yards proving that the camp and preseason was not just a fluke, he is Mahomes favorite target at receiver. Xavier Worthy, the Texas rookie, also scored twice in the game, one rushing and one receiving. Isiah Pacheco ran 15 times for 45 yards and a score with his longest run totaling just five yards. Travis Kelce finished with three receptions for 34 yards.

The Bengals, in true team fashion, lost yet another season opener. They were taken down 16-10 at home by the New England Patriots after going into the game favored by more than a touchdown. Joe Burrow threw for 21 completions for 164 yards and no touchdowns or interceptions. Despite contract disputes, Ja’Marr Chase did play and finished with six receptions for 62 yards.

With Tee Higgins sidelined, Andrei Iosivas played alongside Chase and finished with three receptions for 26 yards on six targets. Tanner Hudson finished better than newcomer Mike Gesicki. Zack Moss led the rushing attack with nine carries for 44 yards and a touchdown with Chase Brown minimally involved.

In a playoff rematch from last year’s NFC Divisional round, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers visit the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon.

Among the games in the early window on Sunday is a playoff matchup from last year’s NFC Divisional round. In a week two battle, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-0) return to Ford Field, where their season ended last year in a loss to the Detroit Lions (1-0). Tampa was coming in after upsetting the defending NFC Champion Philadelphia Eagles, but the Lions put an end to their run in a 31-23 game. That was the Lions’ final win of the 2023 season – they lost in the NFC Championship to the San Francisco 49ers the next week.

That was actually the second meeting between the Lions and Bucs last season. Detroit won in Tampa in the regular season, 20-6.

Both games saw the Lions get big-time performances from quarterback Jared Goff. He completed a combined 60 of his 87 pass attempts for 640 yards between the two games, throwing two touchdowns in each game with no interceptions.

Now Goff faces a Tampa defense coming off a strong showing against the pass. Last week against the Washington Commanders and rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels they allowed just 161 passing yards and no touchdowns through the air.

The Colts head to Green Bay on Sunday afternoon to take on the Packers as both teams look to get their first win of the year

The Indianapolis Colts hit the road on Sunday afternoon looking to bounce back from a loss when they take on the Green Bay Packers. The Colts fell to the Houston Texans 29-27 in Week 1 at home and are looking to avoid an 0-2 start. Anthony Richardson had a mixed debut as he went 9-19 through the air for 212 yards and two touchdowns. He also led the team in rushing with 56 yards and at touchdowns. They went back and forth with the Texans, but never led in the game. They closed it to two points three different times, including twice in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately for them they couldn’t stop the Texans and have a chance to take the lead. the two teams scored a touchdown on their last five possessions.

It was a tough loss for the Packers, but the bigger loss was having quarterback Jordan Love go down with an injury. It is reported he had a sprained MCL and they are hoping he is only out 3-4 weeks.

Kenneth Walker III and the Seahawks will take the field against Rhamondre Stevenson and the Patriots on Sunday afternoon.

The Seattle Seahawks will head on the road in Week 2 of the NFL season to take on the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, during a projected 72-degree day. The visiting Seahawks came away with a win in Week 1 of the season at home against the Denver Broncos. In the 26-20 narrow victory, the team was led by the running attack of Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet. Geno Smith completed 18 passes for 171 yards and a touchdown with an interception, but it was the ground duo that totaled 146 yards and three touchdowns. Walker III finished with 103 yards on the ground while Charbonnet chipped in 30 yards on the ground and 29 yards through the air. Tyler Lockett was the most-targeted receiver with seven targets, six receptions, and 77 yards. Heading on the road for the first time, they will need to keep this offense churning.

The Patriots will head home after a great win on the road in the first week against the Cincinnati Bengals. It wasn’t a pretty win, but it got the job done and put the first game in the win column. Joey Slye hit three field goals from 32, 35, and 37 yards out while Rhamondre Stevenson scored the only touchdown of the game for New England.

Jacoby Brissett got the starting nod despite the team drafting Drake Maye in the first round this offseason. He has 121 yards on 15 completions. Stevenson finished with 25 carries for 120 yards on top of his touchdown. This will be a run-heavy game between two offenses who have talented backs in the backfield.

New York Giants visit the Washington Commanders as the longtime NFC East rivals each look for their 1st win

The New York Giants (0-1) head to Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland, on Sunday to take on their NFC East rivals, the Washington Commanders (0-1). It’s the home opener for Washington, which lost a lopsided road game to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week. New York got manhandled at home by the Minnesota Vikings a week ago. The Giants won’t have wide receiver Gunner Olszewski (groin), cornerback Nick McCloud (knee) or linebacker Darius Muasau (knee) on Sunday, while wide receiver Darius Slayton remains in concussion protocol but had a full practice on Friday. Commanders cornerback Emmanuel Forbes is out after surgery to repair a torn ligament in his thumb, while defensive tackles Clelin Ferrell (knee) and Jer’Zhan Newton (foot) and safety Quan Martin (hamstring) are questionable.

Veteran linebacker Bobby Wagner made three tackles for loss among his 10 total tackles in his Washington debut. Week 1 was a disaster for New York. Quarterback Daniel Jones absorbed five sacks and was just 22-of-42 for 186 yards and two interceptions, including a pick six, while the run game mustered just 74 yards on 21 carries. The Giants hurt their own cause with nine penalties for 95 yards.

The Giants are 3-0-1 against the Commanders over the last two seasons, with Washington’s last victory in the series coming on the road in Week 18 of the 2021 season. New York leads the all-time series 107-70-5, with the teams splitting their two playoff meetings.

The big story of the Niners’ opener was the performance of rookie UDFA running back Jordan Mason out of Georgia Tech. With Christian McCaffrey sidelined last minute due to an injury, Mason put the offense on his back carrying the ball 28 times for 147 yards and a touchdown. McCaffrey’s status is in doubt again this week, meaning Mason could be in for another big day.

Mason and the Niners’ offense will face a tough test against a Vikings defense that had a strong start last week against the New York Giants. Minnesota held New York to just 240 total yards and 3.5 yards per play while forcing two turnovers. Now facing a Niners offense with more playmakers up and down the lineup, the Vikings will need to respond.

The Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars both look to rebound from Week 1 losses when they face each other on Sunday.

Week 2 of the 2024 NFL season means another chance for the teams that came up short in Week 1 to get their first win. That will be the case for both teams in one matchup on Sunday, with the Cleveland Browns (0-1) visiting the Jacksonville Jaguars (0-1) at EverBank Stadium. While both teams lost last week, the losses were very different. The Browns were at home and got run over by the Dallas Cowboys33-17. For the Browns, turning things around starts at the quarterback position. Deshaun Watson struggled in Week 1, throwing for just 169 yards and two interceptions. At the same time, the pass protection needs to be better as well. Watson was the third-most pressured quarterback in the NFL last week, facing heat on 44.6 percent of his dropbacks.

On the other side, the Jaguars need to do a better job of limiting penalties. They were flagged eight times in Week 1, costing them 71 total yards. Improving on third downs offensively should also be a key – Doug Peterson’s team was 2-of-10 on third downs in the opener needing an average of 8.6 yards on those plays to pick up the first down.

The Baltimore Ravens try to bounce back from their loss in the season opener, at home against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Last week the Baltimore Ravens (0-1) weren’t able to start their season on a high note. Playing in the Thursday night season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore’s comeback came up just short in a 27-20 loss. It’s just one loss though for a team that begins the season in the Super Bowl conversation, and John Harbaugh’s squad will have a chance to get back on track this Sunday, in their home opener at M&T Bank Stadium against the Las Vegas Raiders (0-1).

As the Ravens look to bounce back, they could turn to one of their biggest offseason acquisitions in running back Derrick Henry. Henry failed to make much of an impact in the season opener running for just 46 yards on 13 carries.

At the same time, tight end Isaiah Likely had a breakout game in the opener with 111 yards and a touchdown on nine catches. Quarterback Lamar Jackson could continue to look to him to provide a spark for the offense.

The Raiders will need more from their offense as well. They opened the season with a loss last week, falling 22-10 to the Los Angeles Chargers. Las Vegas turned the ball over three times in that game.

Raiders rookie tight end Brock Bowers had a strong showing in his NFL debut, with six catches for 58 yards. Look for him to be a big part of the offense again this week against Baltimore.

Both the New York Jets and Tennessee Titans will be looking for their first win of the season when they meet on Sunday afternoon.

In a Week 2 matchup on Sunday, the New York Jets (0-1) visit the Tennessee Titans (1-0) at Nissan Stadium. Both teams come into this matchup looking for their first win of the season. The Jets opened their season on the road last week at San Francisco against the 49ers. It was the highly anticipated return of quarterback Aaron Rodgers, whose first season with the Jets lasted less than a drive before he tore his Achilles. Rogers’ return didn’t go the way the Jets wanted though, as he completed 13 of his 21 passes for 167 with a touchdown and interception as the Jets fell 32-19.

The Titans had their own disappointing loss in Week 1. After getting up 17-0 on the Chicago Bears Tennessee allowed 24 unanswered points without the Bears scoring an offensive touchdown.

As both teams look to rebound, one key matchup will be between Titans wide receiver Calvin Ridley and Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner. Ridley was one of the biggest additions for any team in free agency this offseason, brought in to help young Titans quarterback Will Levis. Ridley had three catches for 50 yards last week in his Titans debut.

Another key matchup will be the Jets’ rushing attack against the Titans’ run defense. The Titans held the Bears to just 3.8 yards per carry last week – which dips to 3.3 when removing a trick play end around to receiver D.J. Moore. The Jets boast a strong running back duo in Breece Hall and Braelon Allen, who will be put to the test this week.
