The Utah Hockey Club returns to action on Saturday night with a road game against the L.A. Kings.
The NHL will return to action this weekend following the inaugural 4 Nations Face-Off in which Canada pulled off a thrilling 3-2 overtime victory in Thursday night’s final. The Utah Hockey Club comes into the second half of the season with a spot in fifth place in the Central Division standings with a record of 24-23-9. The team’s last game before the break was played against the Washington Capitals and resulted in a 5-4 shootout victory for Utah. Josh Doan, Michael Carcone, Jack McBain and Dylan Guenther were the goal scorers for Utah to send the game into overtime, and eventually, a shootout in which Clayton Keller scored the winning goal.

The Kings bring a record of 29-17-7 for a total of 65 points on the season which puts the team in third place in the Pacific Division. The team’s most recent game was played two weeks ago against the Anaheim Ducks and resulted in a 2-1 shootout loss. Adrian Kempe scored the lone goal for the Kings with assists from Phillip Denault and Warren Foegele. David Rittich was credited with the loss in net after making 25 saves on 26 shots.
Los Angeles and Utah have already met this season and it took place back in October, resulting in a 3-2 victory for the Kings. Logan Cooley and Clayton Keller scored for Utah while Joel Edmundson finished the game with a brace for L.A. while Brandt Clarke scored the third goal in the win.
