    How to Watch Dubai Sail Grand Prix: Stream SailGP Racing Live, TV Channel

    Helmsman Diego Botín is back to lead Spain’s effort at back-to-back SailGP championships as the new season opens in Dubai.

    The 2024-25 SailGP Racing season opens Saturday in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, with the first run of the season set for the compact course at Mina Rashid. Spain returns as champions after dethroning Australia last season. The Aussie boat had won the first three championships on the circuit before Diego Botín helmed the Spaniards won just two rounds but outpaced Australia in the Grand Final in San Francisco last July. Tom Slingsby returns at the helm for the Aussies, looking to return to championship form.

    Two new teams are joining SailGP Racing for its fifth season, with crews from Brazil and Italy joining the returning F50 catamarans from Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland and the United States. New Zealand finished third in the three-team Grand Final last season, with Denmark, Great Britain, Canada, France, the U.S., Germany and Switzerland rounding out the standings.

    There are some changes for this season within the teams. Giles Scott moves over from Great Britain to takesover the helm for Canada’s renamed NorthStar team from Phil Robertson. Dylan Fletcher, meanwhile, takes the rudder for the Brits and Taylor Canfield, who replaced Jimmy Spithill after the fifth event last season, remains at the helm for the U.S.

    Brazil is helmed by Martine Grael while Italy’s entry is skipped byu Ruggero Tita. Returning helmsmen include Nicolai Sehested (Denmark), Quintin Delapierre (France), Erik Heil (Germany), Pete Burling (New Zealand), Botín (Spain) and Sébastien Schneiter (Switzerland). The two-day event includes six races before the three fastest boats of the weekend compete to win the title.
