Rutgers, the No. 12 ranked men’s college wrestling team in the country, will travel to Minneapolis, Minnesota, for a showdown between two Big Ten Conference teams. On Sunday, they will face off against Minnesota at the Maturi Pavilion. The Minnesota Golden Gophers are 7-1 overall this season and are now 3-1 against teams in the Big Ten. They are 3-0 at home, and their only loss came on the road, so they are 4-1 away from home. That one loss came in Lincoln, Nebraska, against the No. 6 ranked team in the country, 21-13, on Jan. 11th.

They have won three-straight matches since that loss. They came back home and beat former No. 21-ranked Michigan at Maturi Pavilion, 25-10. After that, they went on the road to Wisconsin and beat them 39-3 in a dominant effort from Minnesota. Last weekend, the team took on Northwestern in Evanston, Illinois, and won that match 29-12, heading into this weekend.
The Rutgers Scarlet Knights are 11-4 overall this season and 3-2 against conference teams in the Big Ten. They are 3-1 at home and 4-2 on the road while 4-1 against teams on neutral mats. They picked up a big win against former No. 24-ranked Indiana, 28-6, in a conference game in Bloomington, Indiana, on the 10th.
With the chance to make an even bigger splash, they lost to No. 4-ranked Ohio State in Columbus by two points, 17-15. They got back on the winning side at home, beating Wisconsin 31-7 that next weekend. They were then dominated at home by the nation’s top team, Penn State, 35-3, two weekends ago. Last weekend, they picked up their biggest win of the season against No. 10-ranked Illinois by one point, 16-15.
