    The PWHL-leading Montreal Victoire visit the las -place New York Sirens at Prudential Arena on Wednesday night.

    The Montreal Victoire (16-5-1, 43 points) will lead the Professional Hockey League standings by no less than five points with eight games to play when they take the ice on Wednesday night. The Victoire visit the New York Sirens (7-10-4, 22 points), who have lost nine straight — earning just three points in that stretch — and will be at least 13 points out of the final playoff spot with nine games remaining when they hit the ice at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Wednesday. Montreal comes in with the PWHL’s top goal scorer in Marie-Philip Poulin, who has 14 goals, and the best goalie in the league, Ann-Renée Desbiens, who leads the PWHL with a 1.72 goals-against average and .936 save percentage.

    Cayla Barnes scored 31 seconds into overtime on Saturday to lift the Victoire to a 3-2 road victory over the Boston Fleet. Poulin and Catherine Dubois scored in the game’s first 7:39 to put Montreal up 2-0 before the Fleet fought back to tie it in the second period. Poulin leads the team with 19 points, while Laura Stacey has eight goals, four since Feb. 22.

    The Sirens haven’t played since March 5, when they took a 5-2 loss at Boston. Elizabeth Giguère gave New York a 1-0 lead 7:21 into the game before the Fleet potted three unanswered goals. Sarah Fillier’s goal in the second period closed the scoring for the Sirens. Fillier, the top pick in the PWHL draft in June, is second in the PWHL with 22 points and her eight goals shares the team lead with Alex Carpenter. Corinne Schroeder is 6-6-2 in net with a 2.75 GAA and .908 save percentage.

    Montreal has won two of three thus far this season against New York. The Sirens won the first meeting 4-1 at Place Bell in Montreal on Dec. 4, before the Victoire bounced back with a 2-1 win in Newark on Feb. 2 and a 6-2 victory on home ice on Feb. 15.
