Brighton looked down for the count against Spurs last time out before a late resurgence saw Fabian Hurzeler’s side come back from the dead in storming fashion.
Former Manchester United and Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck continued his throttling run of form with a 66th-minute winner at home to Spurs, who looked al set to win at the Amex up 2-0 at half-time:
Newcastle, on the other hand, has looked bereft of inspiration in attack after scoring just two goals across its last three league games, only one of which was from open play.
It doesn’t help that manager Eddie Howe could be without star strikers Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson for the visit of Brighton, with the latter in particular struggling to maintain fitness of late.
Brighton, on the other hand, will be without Brazil forward Joao Pedro, along with central defenders Adam Webster and Matt O’Riley, while Carlos Baleba and Solly March are also among the visitors’ doubts.
