Uneaten in its first five matches of the 2024-25 English Premier League season, defending champions Manchester City looks to run its undefeated streak against its hosts Newcastle United FC to 11 matches since 2019 in a trip to St. James’ Place. After a testy, injury and drama-filled home draw with Arsenal on Sunday, Man City dispatched Watford in an EFL Cup match victory on Wednesday as it turns its attention back to league play. Newcastle comes into today having alternated wins in losses in its last two fixtures winning at Wolverhampton behind a pair of second-half goals followed by an away loss at Fulham after conceding a pair of first-half goals.

Man City striker Erling Haaland leads the Premier League with 10 goals already on the young season, scoring at least one goal in each of the first five games. After a record-setting performance in his first season with City where he scored a league-record 36 goals, Haaland again led the EPL with 27 goals en route to the team’s fourth title in a row and sixth in seven seasons.
Newcastle United is paced by midfielder Harvey Barnes who has tallied a goal in three consecutive matches. Barnes started his career with Leicester City where he scored 35 goals including a career-best 13 in 2022-23 before spending time with Championship sides Barnsley and West Bromwich Albion before returning to the Premier League with The Magpies last season.
Manchester City will be without the services of its star midfielder Rodri who will miss the rest of the season after an ACL injury in Sunday’s draw with Arsenal.
City owns the all-time series lead between the clubs 31-8-9 and is unbeaten in its last five trips to St. James’ Park posting three wins and scoring at least three goals in four if its last five.
