Defending champion Collin Morikawa leads the field into the first round of the Zozo Championship in Japan on Wednesday night.
On Thursday (Wednesday night in the United States), Collin Morikawa starts the defense of his Zozo Championship title on the Narashino Country Club in Inzai, Japan. It is the fifth event of eight on the FedExCup Fall schedule, where players outside the top 50 in the FedExCup standings get an opportunity to secure signature event exemptions and full PGA Tour status for 2025. Morikawa powered past Eric Cole and Beau Hossler for a six-stroke victory last year and returns in an attempt to become the event’s first two-time champion. Tiger Woods, Patrick Cantlay, Hideki Matsuyama and Keegan Bradley are the other winners since the event launched in 2019.

The Zozo Championship is a limited field tournament, with 78 players and no cut. 12 players from the FedExCup top 50 are in the field. Besides Morikawa, Sahith Theegala, Xander Schauffele, Sungjae Im, Matsuyama, Justin Thomas, Tom Hoge, Si Woo Kim, Will Zalatoris, Max Homa, Max Greyserman and Cole will tee it up.
Players are competing for the winner’s share of $1.53 million from the $8.5 million prize pool and 500 FedExCup points. The victory also secures a two-year PGA Tour exemption, as Patton Kizzire, Kevin Yu, Matt McCarty and J.T. Poston have already done this fall.
Those who finish the Fall swing in places 51-60 earn spots in next year’s Pebble Beach Pro-Am and Genesis Invitational signature events along with full tour status for 2025. The top 125 secure full tour cards for next year, while those who finish 126-150 earn provisional tour status.
Regional restrictions may apply.
