Patrick Fishburn takes a 1-shot lead into the weekend at The RSM Classic at Sea Island Golf Club in Georgia
Patrick Fishburn, hunting for his first PGA Tour victory after basically assuring himself full PGA Tour status for 2025, shot an eight-under-par 64 on Friday at Sea Island Golf Club’s Plantation Course to take a one-shot lead into the weekend, with Saturday’s third round to be played on the shorter Seaside Course at the resort. Fishburn moved to 11-under, one shot up on first-round co-leader Maverick McNealy and Lee Hodges, who carded a 63 at Plantation on Friday. If Fishburn holds his spot, he would vault from 87th place on the FedExCup Fall points list to 56th, entering the Aon Next 10 group that earns two Signature event exempions next seasn.

Michael Thorbjornsen, who shared the first-round lead with McNealy, is tied for fourth with Luke Clanton, both two shots off the pace. Michael Kim, Nico Echavarria and Adrien Dumont de Chassart are at eight-under-par, three shots back, with six players sharing ninth place at seven-under.
Defending champion Ludvig Åberg, who shot a 75 on Thursday in his first competitive round since September knee surgery, stormed back with a 64 to comfortably make the cut and stands in a tie for 17th place at five-under-par.
The RSM Classic is the final event of the FedExCup Fall schedule, where the top 125 players on the points list will earn full Tour status for next year and the next 25 players gain provisional status. The winner gets a $1.44 million cut of the $8 million purse.
