The John Deere Classic continues on Friday as the race to the FedEx Cup heats up.
The PGA Tour’s busy summer season continues this week as players make their way to the TPC Deere Run for the 2024 John Deere Classic, which continues on Friday. Competitors will hope to find some rhythm, as the race to the FedEx Cup Playoffs heats up with only a handful of events remaining.

Hayden Springer is currently atop the leaderboard at -12. He has sole possession of first, while Sami Valimaki is second, one shot back. The first tie in the field is for third, with Chandler Phillips, Davis Thompson and Denny McCarthy all two shots behind Springer.
Some of the bigger names in this field have some work to do this weekend. Aaron Rai is tied for 11th, while Beau Hossler and Zach Johnson are tied for 17th. Sungjae Im is tied for 34th while Pierceson Coody is tied for 56th.
Perhaps the biggest surprise right now is that Jordan Spieth is tied for 95th after the first round, shooting a 69 to go two under par. He is currently below the projected cut line. Other names below that line include Sam Stevens, Neal Shipley and Adam Schenk.
Defending champion Sepp Straka has his sights set on going back-to-back, but has to make up some ground as he is currently tied for 17th at six under par.
