Adam Svensson demolishes Black Desert Resort with a 1st-round 60 to take a 2-shot lead into Friday’s 2nd round
With first-round play suspended on Thursday due to darkness, Adam Svensson’s 11-under-par 60 leads the field at the Black Desert Championship at the Black Desert Resort in Ivins, Utah. Svensson, currently 76th on the FedExCup Fall standings, could move into the coveted 51-60 range to earn exemptions to a pair of signature events in 2025. Svensson started his round on the 10th and came in with a 29 after closing the front nine with four straight birdies. He added an eagle on the par-five seventh before a birdie at the ninth to finish.

Players are competing for the $1.35 million winner’s share of the $7.5 million purse. The champion also earns a two-year PGA Tour exemption and entry to the major championships that admit PGA Tour winners from the previous year. It is the PGA Tour’s first stop in Utah since 1963.
Jay Don Blake, 65, received a sponsor’s invitation to make his 500th career PGA Tour start. He was still on the course at the suspension of play Thursday with at three-over-par through 15 holes. Henrik Norlander and Matt McCarty share second place at nine-under-par, two shots back, with Kevin Streelman and Sam Ryder tied for fourth, four shots out of the lead.
The Black Desert Championship is the third of eight events on the FedExCup Fall schedule, introduced last year. Players have an opportunity to secure their 2025 PGA Tour status by finishing in the top 125 of the fall standings, with the top 10 players on the points list at the end of the stretch earning invitations to the Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the Genesis Invitational.
