The Seattle Reign will host NJ/NY Gotham FC on Monday night as the teams look to move up in the NWSL standings.
On Monday night, Lumen Field is set to host the home side Seattle Reign and visiting Gotham FC in an NWSL matchup. The Reign brings a record of 5-5-9 into Monday’s game and will look to extend its win streak which currently stands at three games. Currently, Seattle is in 11th place in the NWSL standings with 20 points, but will be able to jump up to ninth with a win and put themselves just one spot out of a playoff position. The club’s most recent win came against Angel City FC in a narrow 3-2 victory. Angel City took a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute, but the game was tied up in the 31st with a converted penalty by Sofia Huerta. Ji So-yun gave Seattle the lead just before the break and Tziarra King extended the lead to 3-1 with a goal in the 59th minute. Angel City got back within one just before the final whistle, but it was too little, too late.

Gotham has won its last two games and is sitting comfortably in fourth place in the standings with 37 points collected from a record of 11-4-4. The club’s last match was played against the last place Houston Dash and resulted in a close 2-1 win on the road. Yazmeen Ryan got things going with a goal ten minutes into the game, but Houston answered with a goal seven minutes later. The teams played square until stoppage time in the second half when Esther González put in the game winner. Ann-Katrin Berger made two saves in net for Gotham to help her team add another three points to its tally.
The last time these two teams met was back in June and the game resulted in a 1-1 draw. With a playoff spot potentially on the line, Seattle will need to pick up a win and send Gotham on a long trip home without any points.
