Marta and the Orlando Pride will take the pitch against Ashley Hatch and the Washington Spirit on Sunday night.
The Washington Spirit will head on the road this week in National Women’s Soccer League soccer to take on the Orlando Pride in Florida at Inter&Co Stadium on Sunday night. This will be a matchup of the season thus far with the end of the season just weeks away. This will feature the No. 1 team in the league taking on the No. 2 team in the league. The Pride have a 16-6-0 record through 22 games as the only team in the NWSL without a loss this season. They have a total of 54 points on the table with a 27-goal differential. Last month, Orlando only tied one game against Kansas City after beating NJ/NY 2-0 and Chicago 1-0 and after beating Bay FC 1-0 and Houston 3-1. In that last game, Carson Pickett, Angelina, and Marta scored all three goals for the team. That was Marta’s seventh goal of the season which puts her as the No. 2 player on the team. Barbra Banda leads the team in scoring with 13 goals in 18 matches.

The Spirit are the No. 2 team in the league with a total of 47 points on the table and a 19-goal differential on a 15-2-5 record. The club is seven points behind Orlando and three points ahead of NJ/NY Gotham FC on the NWSL table. They ended last month with a 2-1 win against Angel City with goals from Ashley Hatch and Makenna Morris.
The last time these two teams played was in April with Orlando winning 3-2. Angelina scored first followed by Washington’s Ouleymata Sarr to get it even. Barbra Banda and Summer Yates scored back-to-back goals to put Orlando up 3-1 before Hatch scored and made it 3-2. Washington couldn’t find an equalizing goal.
