The Kansas City Current will receive Utah Royals FC on Saturday night for an NWSL matchup.
On Saturday night, CPKC Stadium will play host to the home side Current and the visiting Utah Royals and both clubs look to add three points to their tally for the season. The Royals have struggled this season and bring an overall record of 4-3-11 into Saturday’s contest for a total of 15 points and a spot in 13th place in the standings. The team is currently on a four game win streak with the hopes of adding a fifth on Saturday night with an upset over the Current on the road. Most recently, the team took on the Houston Dash, earning a 3-1 victory. The game was scoreless until the 44th minute when Ana Tejada scored to give her team a 1-0 lead going into the locker room. Claudia Zomoza made it a 2-0 game after converting a penalty kick in the 55th minute. Five minutes later, Paige Monaghan also found the back of the net for the Royals, making it a 3-0 game. With less than 20 minutes remaining, Houston got on the board, but with some regrouping, Utah was able to deny the Dash and walk away with a win.

The Current has had a strong season thus far and are currently in third place in the leage standings with 35 points collected from a record of 10-5-3. The team will look to break a two-game losing streak after dropping its more recent game to the NC Courage in a tought 2-1 defeat. Temwa Chawinga scored the team’s lone goal in the 62nd minute to give Kansas City the lead, but North Carolina countered with goals in the 67th and 92nd minute to take the three points.
Kansas City and Utah last met in May and the game a tightly played match that resulted in a 1-0 win for the Current with the game winning goal being scored by Elizabeth Ball.
