With just two regular season games remaining, the Kansas City Current and San Diego Wave will look to add another three points.
On Saturday afternoon, CPKC Stadium will play host to the home side Kansas City Current and visiting San Diego Wave as the teams square off in one of the final two regular season games in NWSL play. The Wave is currently sitting in 12th place in the league table with a record of 5-7-12 for a total of 22 points. While a playoff spot isn’t out of the realm of possibility, it would take a great amount of variables to get into postseason play. Not only would the team have to win out, losses and draws from several other teams are the only hope for San Diego to get in. The most recent NWSL game played for the Wave resulted in a tough 2-0 loss last weekend. The team gave up a penalty kick in the 30th minute of play and the insurance goal went in during the 72nd minute. Despite producing 19 shots with three on target, San Diego just could not put one in the back of the net.

Almuth Schult made three saves in net to earn the clean sheet and help her team add another three points to its tally.
Kansas City and San Diego last met in March and the game was tightly contested, but the Current ultimately came out on top with a 2-1 win. Lo’eau LaBonta netted the game winner on a penalty kick while Isabel Rodriguez scored the equalizer after Kansas City fell behind early.
