The team has dropped its last two NWSL matchups with the most recent being a 1-0 loss to the Kansas City Current. Temwa Chawinga scored the game-winning goal for Kansas City in the 35th minute. Bay FC produced seven shots with three ending up on target, but the team could not beat Almuth Schult in net. If the team keeps trending down with its play, it will be eliminated from a playoff position.

The Courage has already clinched a playoff position, but will be looking to improve that position with a win for a higher seed. The team is currently in fifth place with 39 points from a record of 12-3-9. In their last time out, the Courage played to a 1-1 draw against Angel City FC. The game was scoreless through regulation and both goals were scored in extra time. Angel City struck in the 97th minute of play and just before the final whistle was blown, Olivia Wingate netted the equalizer to help her team avoid the loss and add one point to its tally.
