Brown has three wins this season in Top Fuel tied with Justin Ashley who won two weeks ago at the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals in Brainerd, Minnesota. The three-time NHRA Champion in Top Fuel, Brown comes into this weekend fifth in the points standings, in search of his first series championship since 2016 as he trails defending series champion Doug Kalitta by 187 points having already clinched a spot in the Countdown.

Ron Capps, who has won two of the last three series titles in Funny Car, has yet to punch his ticket to the Countdown sitting in sixth place in the standings sitting 452 points behind points leader Austin Prock who has four wins this season but has never claimed a U.S. Nationals title.

Matt Smith, who reached victory lane in 2022 and 2023 at this event in Pro Stock Motorcycle, picked up his first win of the season at Sonoma in late July. Smith won the Series Championship six times since 2007 including three in a row between 2020 and 2022 and is one event win away from becoming just the fourth person to ever collect 40 or more NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle wins.

All four rounds of eliminations will take place today and will solidify the field for the Countdown to the Championship which begins September 12 at Maple Grove Raceway in Pennsylvania.
