Riding a three-game winning streak the Washington Capitals look to wrap up November with another win and overtake the top of the Metropolitan Division standings on Saturday night as they hit the road to face off against the red-hot New Jersey Devils. Powered by the National Hockey League’s top power-play unit, the Devils have won 11 of their last 14 games including a 3-2 win at Washington last weekend and with a win today would claim the season series. Washington has dominated this series in games played in the Garden State winning nine of the last 10 meetings in this series on away ice dating back to February of 2021 including each of the last three.

With captain Alexander Ovechkin sidelined with a broken leg, Capitals center Dylan Strome has assumed the production duties for the Washington offense leading the team with 26 assists, third most in the NHL. Strome, a first-round selection by Arizona in the 2015 NHL Draft, has posted consecutive 60-point seasons and with 21 points in 14 November games, is on pace to shatter his career high of 67 points set last season.
The Devils offense ranks ninth in the NHL scoring 3.42 goals per game led by center Nico Hischier’s team-high 14 goals after lighting the lamp in a 5-4 win at Detroit on Friday. Hischier snapped a 10-game goalless streak by tallying his first career hat trick against Nashville on Monday.
The New Jersey power play has converted on 32.5% of chances with the man advantage scoring eight goals in the last five games.
