Off their first loss of the season, the Vegas Golden Knights continue their three-game eastern road swing on Thursday night as they take on the undefeated Tampa Bay Lightning inside Amalie Arena. The Lightning have won both of their first two games by identical 4-1 scores beating Carolina on opening night and Vancouver on Tuesday behind winger Nikita Kucherov and goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy’s red-hot starts to the season. Vegas had won three in a row at home to open the campaign but dropped their road opener in Washington on Tuesday night in the first game the Golden Knights had failed to score at least three goals.

Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy has been lights out in his first two starts this season allowing just two goals to go with his blistering hot .958 saver percentage. Vasilevskiy, a first-round selection by Tampa Bay in the 2012 NHL Draft, has posted seven straight 30-plus win seasons and comes into tonight five wins away from becoming the 40th goaltender ever to win 300 games.
The Vegas first line of Ivan Barbashev, Jack Eichel and Mark Stone have lit up scoreboards already this season combining for seven goals and 16 assists through the first four games. Eichel has been a sparkplug for the Golden Knights offense scoring 31 goals last season and posted 66 points during Vegas’ Stanley Cup run in 2023.
Tampa Bay swept Vegas last season scoring five goals in both games but has struggled against the Golden Knights at home losing four of the six meetings, with three of those four losses coming in overtime or a shootout.
